Pictures, Videos, and File Attachments

Hello Evidence Trackers!  We are happy to introduce Picture, Video, and other File Attachments to the Asset Log.

We’ve also reworked the Evidence Log attachments so that Pictures can be added in a more streamlined way.  Add a picture attachment.  The first picture added is automatically the default.  To change it to a different picture just choose that in the screen.

So that all users who have permissions can view and open attachments, we require that you have a shared folder.  By default the newest Client Install sets both Attachment Folders to be the same as the folder you have label templates in (since most client/server users already have that path setup on the network).

Stand-alone users or users who want finer control over where the attachments are stored may want to have their IT department create a place for them.  Once that is created you can change the path used in System Setup.  Go to the Pictures and Attachments section and select the folder(s) you want to use.  Please be sure users that will be adding attachments have write access to the folder.  Note: If you are running on a stand-alone you may want to use a folder that is outside of C:\Program Files (x86).

We’re looking forward to hearing about how much adding Pictures and Attachments to the Asset Log help your Quartermaster.

Also, Evidence Techs please let us know how you feel about the improvement in the way pictures are handled on the Evidence Log.  At this time Pictures you added the old way are not automatically added as attachments.  We’re working on that.  Expect it in a near future release.
